3 Practical Tips for Mothers to Gain More Energy

Most of the moms I talk to complain about the same thing:  Lack of energy, too many things to do every day, and not enough time. It seems to have become the norm in our society; we are overworked, running around from one thing to another, with to-do lists as long as the Dead Sea Scrolls.

This year, I have made it my goal to learn to S L O W down goal and embrace simplicity in my everyday. To learn to prioritize and be more intentional in my health, home, and family activities. When we know how to *truly* prioritize, we start to make more progress each day, leading to long-term success. The hustle and rat race are a thing of the past; it is time for us to find a better way for ourselves and our families.

Slow & Deliberate Action Leads to Success

Here is a quick journal/visualization exercise for you to start with

Visualize how you want your ideal day to be; think of the emotions behind this!

  • How do you want your home to feel? What are you surrounded by, and what brings you peace in your living space?

  • How do you physically want to feel?

  • Ask yourself, by the end of the day, are you feeling depleted, like you cannot even keep your eyes open for another second, or do you still have the energy to do a light workout, a self-care routine, and spend time with your husband? What can you do today to start turning this around?

I don’t know about you, but over the last couple of years, I found myself more in the former and daydreaming about the latter. So I had to get my head back in the game, remembering how I used to nurture myself before becoming a mom and learning what I needed in this season of life!

Taking time away from the screens, connecting to nature, fueling your body with wholesome REAL foods, and breaking down each week and day with what you need to get done will provide you with more energy and improve your mental health!

3 Simple Tips to Increase Energy and Reduce Stress

EARTHING

Earthing is walking barefoot outdoors to ground yourself and connect deeper to the earth and nature.

There are many health benefits to walking barefoot; these include:

✧ Better sleep

✧ Decreased anxiety

✧ Naturally boosted energy

✧ Relaxing muscle tension

✧ Boosted immunity

To Begin :

✧ Find a quiet place in nature, this could be right in your backyard

✧ Remove your shoes and try to clear your mind as best as you walk barefoot in the grass, dirt, etc.

✧ If you feel inclined, you can also lie down at this time, taking deep, intentional breaths. You might want to pray and connect with your intuitive voice during this time. See what comes through for you when you clear all of that noise!

Bonus Tip

Do not bring your phone outside with you when you do. I understand how some calm music or a meditation app might benefit you in this activity; however, the point is to be immersed in nature, listen to the sounds, and feel the earth fully at your feet.

Extra Bonus: Give yourself a screen and social media detox. It is hard not to be on your phone when work and life are connected, but you can remove yourself from other things, like games and social media, so you only use your phone for necessity and not escape!

NUTRIENT DENSE MEALS

Adding morenutrient-dense foods will help banish fatigue and improve your mental and physical wellness. Aim to start your day with proteins, complex carbs, and healthy fats. Remember, low carb and low fat only puts more stress on your body and could leave you more depleted.

Try this Energizing + Mood Boosting Breakfast

Eggs & Greens

2 Eggs - served your way (personal favorite - 2 over easy or soft-boiled)

  +

Sweet Potatoes :

Baked in the oven, 450 degrees for about 30 mins: slice into wedges, sprinkle with olive oil & sea salt; serving size depends on you; I would recommend about ½ sweet potato

+

Mixed Green Salad :

Toss together your favorite mixed greens (my favorite- blend of green leaf crunchy lettuce and a little 50/50 spinach/spring mix) with cherry tomatoes, diced red onions, shredded carrots, and two pieces of crispy bacon (recommend, oven-baked, for less mess) + a simple dressing: Juice of ½ lemon, sea salt & olive oil

+

(optional) Fresh squeezed OJ

PRIORITIZE

You hear a lot about balance in motherhood, but it is BS. Trying to do all of the things can cause your body more stress, resulting in fatigue. You cannot do it all in one day, and that is okay. Each day, prioritize what you need to take care of. Try mini routines to help you organize your days and reduce the daily overwhelm.

Quick Tips to Help you Prioritize :

✧ Make a list of all of the things you need to get done that day/week

✧ What are 1-2 urgent tasks? Make those your must-do’s for the day

✧ Start to chunk out the list each day with what is of the highest priority

Make an effort to also put yourself on the list of things to prioritize!

✧ Start to make a list of things that help you to relax and bring you joy

✧ Add one of these to your daily schedule

BONUS:

There is a worksheet in Fuel Your Soul to help you get more clarity on creating routines that bring you joy! I am including the journal prompts below - but if you want more context around these questions, be sure to

Reflect on your answers to help you start to plan mini-routines

So there you have it: three simple ways to begin gaining energy! All of these tips will boost your energy, and when you use all three consistently, you will begin to see an overall improvement in your physical and mental wellness.

Scrolled to the end? Here is Summary…

Through intentional action and a shift in mindset, we can discover that prioritizing our well-being isn't just a luxury—it's a necessity. By taking small, deliberate steps each day, we can start to reclaim our energy and find moments of peace amidst the chaos.

One powerful tool we can embrace is visualization. By envisioning our ideal days and tapping into the emotions behind them, we can gain clarity on what brings us joy and how we want to feel physically and emotionally. This simple exercise can be a guiding light as we navigate the ups and downs of motherhood. But visualization is just the beginning.

We can also incorporate practical strategies into our routines, like earthing and nourishing our bodies with nutrient-dense foods. These simple practices can profoundly impact our energy levels and overall well-being. And perhaps most importantly, let's learn the art of prioritization. Rather than trying to do it all, let's focus on what truly matters each day and give ourselves permission to let go of the rest. We can find a renewed sense of purpose and vitality by carving out time for self-care and joy.

So, if you're feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, know you're not alone. Together, let's embrace slow and deliberate action to reclaim our energy and rediscover the joy in motherhood.
